Meet the Owners

La Siesta owners and brothers Francisco and Benjamin Guillen are originally from Cerano, a small town in the central highlands state of Guanajuato in Mexico. Francisco came to the United States 23 years ago and has worked in the restaurant industry for 20 years. He began working at El Jimador Mexican restaurant in 1999 and later became a co-owner of the El Jimador at Liberty Square off of Clark Lane. Benjamin followed in his brother’s footsteps and entered the restaurant business a couple of years ago.

About the Name…

At El Jimador, Francisco would always ask customers, “how was your meal?” They would often respond by saying they were full and ready for a nap. Many would use the Spanish word “siesta,” so Guillen thought if he ever opened a restaurant of his own, he would name it La Siesta.
